The Danckert Lab has two research streams — boredom and mental model updating
We study boredom in a wide range of ways. We use behavioural tasks like foraging that pit exploration against exploitation, sustained attention tasks that are by design monotonous and dull, and executive control tasks that tap into the capacity for self-control.
The Danckert Lab is led by James Danckert at the University of Waterloo.
We also study the mental models people create to represent regularities in the world and the mechanisms and neural networks that are important for building and updating these models.
